Repair kit with 8 valve stem rubbers made of FPM fluorine rubber for various classic and modern Mercedes petrol and diesel engines.
This set is with the M116 and M117 V8 engines intended for a single cylinder head. For replacing all valve stem seals of a complete V8 engine, 2 sets needed.
The valve stem seals have a valve stem diameter of 9 mm and are applied in various M116, M117, OM601, OM602 and OM603 engines.

Why replace valve stem seals?
Valve stem seals are exposed to for years high temperatures, engine oil and aging. As a result, they can become hard and brittle over time and lose their sealing effect.
When the valve stem seals no longer seal properly, engine oil can enter the combustion chamber via the valve stem and valve guide. Possible symptoms are increased oil consumption, blue exhaust smoke and fouling of the combustion chamber.
Mounting sleeve valve stem seals
For installing the valve stem seals, we recommend the use of a mounting sleeve. This protects the sealing lip of the new valve stem seal from damage during installation.
