Description

Valve cover gasket left - Mercedes R107 C107 W108 W109 W111 W116 W126 C126 W463 - M116 M117 engine

Very high-quality valve cover gasket for the left side of various classic Mercedes models with the M116 and M117 V8 petrol engines. On European and American cars, this concerns the driver's side.

This valve cover gasket is manufactured to very high quality and ensures a reliable and durable seal between the left valve cover and the cylinder head. A well-sealing valve cover gasket prevents engine oil leakage and contamination of the engine compartment.

Due to age, heat, and temperature fluctuations, the valve cover gasket can harden, shrink, or become damaged. The valve cover gasket must also be replaced after removing the valve cover.

Specifications
  1. Part: valve cover gasket.
  2. Mounting side: left, on European and American cars the driver's side.
  3. Quality: very high quality.
  4. Application: seal between valve cover and cylinder head.
  5. Suitable for various Mercedes M116 and M117 V8 engines.
  6. For classic Mercedes models with 3.5, 3.8, 4.2, 4.5, 5.0, and 5.6 liter V8 engines.
Additional information
  1. Prevents oil leakage between the valve cover and the cylinder head.
  2. Due to age and heat, the valve cover gasket can harden and lose its sealing function.
  3. After removing the valve cover, the valve cover gasket must be replaced.
  4. Carefully check the valve cover for damage and deformation before installation.
  5. Pay particular attention to the bulging of the valve cover around the mounting points. This often occurs because the mounting bolts were overtightened in the past.
  6. Due to deformation, the valve cover may locally come to lie next to the sealing surface of the cylinder head. As a result, engine oil can leak out and end up on the hot exhaust manifold.
  7. The valve cover gasket can also be damaged or tear if the mounting bolts are overtightened.
  8. For this application, the valve cover mounting bolts must with 3 Nm be tightened. First tighten the bolts lightly hand-tight and then, using a suitable torque wrench, tighten them evenly in a criss-cross pattern, opposite each other, to 3 Nm.
Tip

For the installation of one valve cover gasket, 4 hollow copper sealing rings 6 x 10 x 1.5 mm are required. These are supplied separately and can be ordered simultaneously if necessary.
