Description
Subframe modification kit lower control arm reinforcement – Mercedes R107 W114 W115
Modification kit for reinforcing the front subframe from the Mercedes R107 until the model change in September 1985 and for the Mercedes W114 and W115 from all model years.
From September 1985, the subframe of the R107 was modified by Mercedes and fitted with additional reinforcements at the rear mounting points of the lower control arms.
This reinforcement is missing on the earlier R107 models. Around these mounting points, the subframe can become damaged over time. show cracking. Especially the left side – driver's side is known for the fact that cracks can form here.
With this modification kit, the relevant mounting points of a intact subframe be reinforced preventively.
We also use these modification kits in our own workshop and have had very good experiences with them.

Installation advice
Carefully check the complete subframe before installation. cracking, corrosion, deformation and previous repairs. Pay extra attention to the mounting points of the lower control arms, and in particular to the left side – driver's side, because this place is known for cracking.
This modification kit is intended for the preventive reinforcement of an intact subframe and not for repairing a subframe that is already cracked. If cracking, severe corrosion, or other structural damage is found, the subframe must be replaced with a suitable one.
We always carefully fit the reinforcement parts to the relevant subframe in our own workshop before welding, so that the parts connect as well as possible and without tension. Only then are the reinforcement parts permanently welded. In practice, we weld both the inside and the outside; Mercedes has indicated that they will only weld the inside.
Welding work on a subframe is safety-critical and must be performed by someone with sufficient knowledge and experience with structural welding on vehicle parts.
Always check before purchase and installation whether the part is suitable and equivalent based on photos, description, and specifications; installed or used parts cannot be returned.
