Description

Belt tensioner multi-belt automatic - Mercedes R107 R129 W124 C124 S124 A124 W126 W140 W201 W202 W463 - M103 M104 engine

Automatic belt tensioner for the serpentine belt of various Mercedes models with M103 and M104 petrol engines.

The belt tensioner ensures that the serpentine belt remains under the correct tension while the engine is running. A worn or defective belt tensioner can lead to unusual noises, vibrations, rough belt operation, or insufficient tension on the serpentine belt.

With insufficient belt tension, the components driven by the serpentine belt may receive insufficient power. This can result in, among other things, reduced engine cooling, insufficient charging of the alternator, and reduced power steering performance.

  5. When replacing it, also check the serpentine belt for cracks, drying out, wear, and damage.
  6. Also check the other guide and tension pulleys for play, bearing noise, and irregular operation.
  7. In case of irregular belt routing, always check the cause and do not replace only the serpentine belt.
  8. Before installation, check whether the design and dimensions match the existing belt tensioner.
